Dr.
Susan Denburg
(A
member of the research team affiliated with the Lupus Clinic at
McMaster)
addressed 2500 people at a Clinical Symposium, organized by Dr.
Robert Lahita at the 1997 National Meeting of the American College
of Rheumatology in Washington D.C. The title of the symposium
was "Central Nervous System (CNS) Lupus - New Concepts in
Pathogenesis, Evaluation and Treatment". In her talk,"Cognitive
and Mood Abnormalities in Lupus," Susan Denburg highlighted
the on-going work begun in the 1980s by a team of scientists in
Hamilton at McMaster, headed by Dr. Judah Denburg. This team's
work has expanded to include collaboration with a multidisciplinary
CNS Lupus Research Group at McMaster University Medical Center. Note
from Dr. Susan Denburg
The Lupus Society of Hamilton was instrumental in giving us the
support needed to sustain this work in the early years;
when I gave this presentation at ACR, I felt a terrific sense
of satisfaction at the fact that our work has had an impact.
And so, I would like to thank the Lupus Society for its support,
and for the foresight that this support reflected. I look
forward to continuing to be involved in collaborative studies
of CNS lupus and to presenting the work in both academic and lay
settings. Direct
