LSM Insurance and Lorne Marr Planning Early for 2015 Lupus Bowl
This year's event took place on February 7, 2014 and was a huge success; helping raise over $2500 and spreading awareness in the Toronto/Markham Community.
The event had very good corporate support including Canada Protection Plan, Industrial Alliance and Assumption Life and Marr thinks that the event will continue to gather support among his firms' corporate partners.
Lorne Marr Excited to Showcase His Bowling Skills Again
His wife Chantal Marr, President of LSM Insurance received a letter of support from both the Mayor of Markham, Frank Scarpitti, the Premier of Ontario and Kathleen Wynne. Both Lorne and his wife are hopeful they may be able to get the Mayor or the Premier to attend the event next year.
As an insurance brokerage firm, LSM Insurance specializes in dealing with hard to insure Canadians and therefore, they are no strangers to the financial and emotional devastation caused by a disease such as Lupus. A proactive company, LSM meets the challenges of serious illnesses head on by providing education and information about how insurance greatly eases the financial burden and by raising money for charitable organizations that have pledged to fight these diseases.
The proposed date for next year's event is February 13, 2015. Lorne Marr's donation goal is set for $5000.00. To make a donation to the LSM Lupus Bowl Event please donate online at http://www.lupusontario.org/Donations.aspx or you can call the Lupus Ontario office (toll free) 1-877-240-1099.

Lupus Ontario's Donna Chu Award goes to...
Paula Courtney, Lori Shedlosky and Michael Stewart pose for a photo shoot honouring Paula Courtney with this year's Donna Chu Award.
Paula Courtney was given 10 years to live in 1993. Her first reaction was, "Not going to happen." She was only 28 and she was not going to let this disease slow her down. She lived to be 49 years old and outlived every doctors expectations. It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Paula Courtney. She passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday August 17, 2014.
Lupus Ontario recognized Paula on November 2, 2013 at the Italian Dinner honouring her with the President's Choice Donna Chu Memorial Award for the most outstanding lupus fundraising volunteer.
Paula had raised just shy of $33,000 through the Baby Steps, Step by Step campaign. Let us not forget her hard work and dedication helping those live longer and better with lupus.
